trip description for Nearshore Kingfish Special in Jacksonville

Head offshore from Jacksonville with Captain Frank to hunt the nearshore waters for some great fighting and good eating Atlantic King Mackerel on light tackle. For these trips, 3 anglers is ideal, but it is possible to fish 4 at a time if that is necessary. Captain Frank's 24 foot Pathfinder is outfitted with a custom T-top and plenty of safe, comfortable seating, this boat provides a smooth nearshore fishing experience when conditions are nice. This trip is heavily dependent on the weather though. If the seas are too big on the day of your trip, Captain Frank will happily take you to explore the inshore waters for Redfish, Trout, Flounder, and other inshore species for a lower rate or offer to reschedule your adventure to a later date. All rods, reels, tackle, and bait will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your favorite rod and reel if you'd like. Ice, water, and soft drinks will be provided as well, so all Captain Frank recommends you bring are your favorite snacks and drinks, your sunglasses, and other weather-appropriate gear whether that's sun protection or rain gear. trip description for Jacksonville Mixed Bag in Jacksonville

Jacksonville, Florida, also known as the River City, is home to some of the best inshore and near shore fishing on the east coast of Florida. The variety of local gamefish make this port a favorite for all types of anglers. So head out with Captain Travis aboard his 24ft Islamorada Boat Works Morada to chase inshore species like Redfish, Trout, Flounder, Cobia, and Tarpon (when there in the area) Its safe, smooth, dry ride will ensure a pleasurable day on the water regardless of conditions. Blending rough water capability with a shallow draft make it the perfect vessel for inshore charters in the River City. **4 Hour Trips:** This is Captain Travis' most popular option. This trip usually involves a morning or afternoon exploring the inshore waters using live and/or artificial baits, and spin-cast and/or sight casting techniques. Depending on the season, the most common species landed during these 4-hour trips include redfish, trout, black drum, flounder, sheep’s head, tarpon, and others. **6 Hour Trips:** This popular option will also involve a morning or afternoon of inshore fishing using the same techniques as the four charter, but also allows your captain additional time to locate the best possible fishing for that day or to possibly target multiple species. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this option may also allow Captain Travis to “run the beach” or to “spot lock” over one of Jacksonville’s many nearshore reefs and/or wrecks for a variety of other species including Sharks, Cobia, Red Snapper, Black Sea Bass, African Pompano and the occasional Grouper. **8 Hour Trips:** This option is for the serious angler. This is a full-day fishing trip using similar techniques as above, but more time equals more opportunities to catch fish. Moreover, depending on the season and weather conditions, this option may also allow Captain Travis to give you the best of both worlds, an inshore and near-shore experience, or just more time of either, depending on your preference or what is biting. Captain Travis will provide all the necessary fishing licenses, gear, ice and water for a successful day out on the water. All he recommends you bring are your favorite snacks and drinks, sunglasses, and some weather-appropriate gear. Above all, Captain Travis' main goal is to provide you with a great day on the water. So if your looking for a first-rate fishing experience in Jacksonville look no further and book your trip today with Captain Travis! Read More

These fish become more active as they move into shallower waters to feed, providing anglers with exciting opportunities for surf fishing, pier fishing, and inshore angling.

Spring, from March to May, brings warmer weather and the beginning of the spawning season for many saltwater species in Atlantic Beach. This time of year is particularly productive for inshore fishing, with redfish, trout, and flounder congregating in the estuaries and backwaters to spawn. Captain Don is truly a 5 star fishing guide. He's a better guy. I've been fishing for over 50 years, and as I hoped, Captain Don showed me several ticks and trips I'd never seen. No matter your experience level, he has something to help. We had a great day on the water, and had a great conversation. Darn fish just kept bugging us though.

We had a great time with captain frank. Due to the storms that rolled in weeks prior to our trip and a nor' easter, we had to make due with the areas we had available to fish. The booking process was very easy and we enjoyed our time on the water.

Kevin was awsome, put us right were the keeper were.

Mark H. with Kevin H. of St. Augustine, Florida

  • ★★★★★
Best fishing day ever! We told Captain Troy we were serious about getting "keeper" fish to eat, and he did not disappoint. A full 12-hour trip into the Atlantic got us 46 delicious keepers (variety of snapper species, Jacks, Cobia, trigger fish, and more) with plenty of non-stop action, thanks to Troy's laser-focus on the fish. He provided good coaching on the best methods to drop our lines and haul up the bounty. He kept the boat on top of fish continuously, and had us haul up our lines as the boat drifted off so he could reposition the boat back over the fish. We literally spent no time at all just hanging out waiting for bites in an empty ocean. He knows some good spots; for the most part we were the only boat on the water as far as the eye could see; we only noticed a couple of other boats wander over toward us in one location. Action also included fighting with one or two giant groupers (line snapped off before we could get them to the boat) and a couple of small sharks. It got exciting when we had to quickly haul in a snapper to save it from the jaws of an impressive 6-foot hammerhead. Overall an exciting, successful, exhausting day on the water from sunup to sundown. Enjoyed grilled Cobia and Jack kabobs for dinner that evening.

Mary Lee F. with Troy J. of St. Augustine, Florida

  • ★★★★★
We had an unbelievable time with Captain James and I can't wait to fish with him again. Was in the area for a wedding and was looking to head offshore so we booked with James. He kept in touch leading up to our trip and let us know the kings were running. We headed out through the St. Mary's jetties and set up on the troll after catching some baitfish on the buoys. There were a couple other boats out and no one seemed to get a bite, the kings just weren't biting. From there, Capt. James took us to one of his snapper spots and we reeled em in on every drop. Everyone caught fish and James was super patient helping one buddy who was offshore for the first time. James was a blast to fish with and was super knowledgeable about the area and its history. His center console split the chop like butter. Will be back! - Jonathan with Captain Experiences

Our 6-hour in-shore fishing trip with Captain Billy was such a great time! He's definitely done his fair share of charters and we were lucky enough to catch quite a few fish. He followed all sizing restrictions and made sure we were on fish at every spot we went to. After, he showed us the proper way to clean fish. We will most definitely do another charter with him in the future.
