About Your Trip

On this full-day fishing adventure, you'll target big-time California sportfish species, including Tuna, Mahi, and more! This fishery, off the coast of Newport Beach, CA, is one of the most productive in California, attracting pelagic predators who come to feast on baitfish, squid and more.

On this trip, Captain Matt will take you deep offshore to find the best areas for Bluefin and Yellowfin Tuna. If you're an offshore angler who has yet to feel the power of a Pacific Bluefin Tuna, this trip has your name on it! Bluefin are famous worldwide for their speed, power, endurance, and fighting ability, with huge dives and long runs that will test any fisherman. When it comes to finding and hooking these big-time sportfish, Captain Matt is your man.

To locate these fish—which can be found anywhere from ten to fifty miles offshore—Captain Matt watches for birds, which follow schools of baitfish; he also looks for "foaming" at the surface, which indicates Tuna feeding; and communicates with other boats to zero in on the fish.

When hunting these fish, you'll use techniques including trolling, drifting, and casting right into the school! Depending on the season, weather, and your fishing preferences, Captain Matt will make sure that you're equipped with the right gear and tackle to get the job done.

You'll get out there aboard his 25' Parker pilothouse, a fishing vessel that was purpose-built to handle anything the Pacific can throw your way. Originally built in 2001, she's been fitted with a 300HP Suzuki engine and top-notch electronics, including GPS, Sonar, radio, and more.

Captain Matt will provide everything for you, including rods, reels, bait, and tackle. Just bring some sunscreen and your California Fishing Licenses and you'll be good to go!

Once you've paid your deposit at checkout, we'll send you a boarding pass. Just show your guide your boarding pass on the day of the trip, they'll scan it, the remaining balance will transfer automatically, and you'll be all set to get out there. Just make sure you bring a cash tip for the guide!

In the case of inclement weather, our guides will make the call and we'll work with you to reschedule your trip or issue a credit for the full deposit of the trip to be used on any of our trips across the country. Your safety is our top concern.

Each trip’s price is set by the guide and factors in all of their costs. A big determinant of cost is often the type of boat and associated fuel costs, but other guide costs include leases, marina / slip fees, bait costs, and the cost to provide and maintain all of the gear you’ll need on your trip.
