About Your Trip

Hop on board with Captain Shaun and prepare for an action-packed day of inshore fishing in San Diego! The San Diego inshores are home to plenty of reefs and kelp beds that support a great fishery.

On this 6-hour trip, Captain Shaun will cruise you along San Diego’s pristine coastline to beautiful shallow waters in Point Loma, Mission Bay, and up to La Jolla. You'll be going after several exciting species such as Barracuda, Calico Bass, California Sheephead, Lingcod, Rockfish, Sculpin, Vermillion Snapper, and Yellowtail Amberjack. You'll be targeting these fish using light tackle, heavy tackle, bottom fishing and trolling depending on what you want to do or what you want to catch. If you have a method or fish in mind, just let Captain Shaun know and he'll get you set up!

Captain Shaun fishes aboard a 30' Blackman Billfisher that can hold up to 4 guests. Powered by a 200 HP Volvo Penta engine , this vessel will have no problem traversing the beautiful San Diego coastline! She comes complete with GPS, Fishfinder, a Flybridge, Live Bait Well and an Ice Box to store your catches. Also on board is a Restroom, Bed, Kitchen, Refrigerator and Multimedia System to make you feel at home on your trip.

Captain Shaun will provide all rods, reels, bait, tackle, ice, small snacks and water. All you need to bring is a California Fishing License for 16 and older, as well as sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat and any food or drinks you might want. Captain Shaun was born and raised fishing San Diego. His love for fishing began when his dad took him to Chollas Lake and Lake Jennings almost every weekend for some freshwater fishing. At the age of 10, Captain Shaun's uncle bought a sport fisher boat and once he was introduced to saltwater fishing, he's never looked back!

After witnessing his father fight brain cancer for 17 months before ultimately passing in 2018, and after Captain Shaun's uncle passed a few years earlier, Captain Shaun was reminded that life is short and should be spent doing what you love.

With his passion for fishing and sharing these unforgettable experiences with others, Captain Shaun earned his 6-pack Captain's License and has been guiding others on the water ever since! Captain Shaun has over 15 years of experience on the water, is incredibly boat savvy, and runs a safe and family-friendly operation in sportfishing.

Packing / Extras

Be sure to bring water/drinks, food, layered clothing, sun protection (hat, sunglasses and/or face shields). Cooler provided on board to store your food and drinks. Rods, Reels, Bait, Tackle, Ice, Small Snacks, Water all provided.

You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

The deposit for this trip is non-refundable (but if the weather is too bad to go out, you will still receive a credit back to your account).

If the weather doesn’t cooperate you’ll be covered by our 100% weather guarantee and you won’t lose your deposit.

Once you've paid your deposit at checkout, we'll send you a boarding pass. Just show your guide your boarding pass on the day of the trip, they'll scan it, the remaining balance will transfer automatically, and you'll be all set to get out there. Just make sure you bring a cash tip for the guide!

In the case of inclement weather, our guides will make the call and we'll work with you to reschedule your trip or issue a credit for the full deposit of the trip to be used on any of our trips across the country. Your safety is our top concern.

Each trip’s price is set by the guide and factors in all of their costs. A big determinant of cost is often the type of boat and associated fuel costs, but other guide costs include leases, marina / slip fees, bait costs, and the cost to provide and maintain all of the gear you’ll need on your trip.
