About Your Trip

If you've been on the hunt for world-class fly fishing right here in California, this trip with Mark was meant for you!

There are a plethora of awesome trout streams in the area where Mark likes to chase Steelhead and Rainbow Trout, both of which love to whack flies on topwater and streamers! His go-to rivers include the Stanislaus, Mokelumne, and Calavares, but he also loves to hit Putah Creek, the American River, the Yuba,
and the Feather River as well. All of these rivers have access in the vicinity of Stockton and provide awesome walk and wade opportunities. With a little skill, you can expect big surface "takes" and blow-ups from all three species, whether you're an experienced fly fisherman or still a rookie.

The summer and fall months offer the best of both worlds when it comes to fishing the San Joaquin Valley, with excellent weather and river conditions, alongside terrific fishing. Fishing during these seasons is also a great way to expand your fly-fishing skillset beyond just Trout; you can have a lot of success targeting Bass and Stripers on the fly as well.

Mark has fished this area for decades, and he's the resident expert when it comes to the best spots, tackle, and techniques. This walk-and-wade trip is the perfect way to get full access to the best holes and hotspots, with Mark there to offer technique tips and pointers. His full-day trips include lunch, so all you need to bring are your **waders and boots**, your sun protection, California Fishing License, and personal gear. Of course, if you don't have your own equipment he's happy to provide it for you. Get out there and see what the San Joaquin Valley has to offer!

About Your Guide

Captain Mark

Independent Guide
Captain Mark has lived his entire life here in the San Joaquin Valley. As a child, he was always fascinated with fish and fishing, even though his parents didn't fish. In his case, it was truly a part of a deep urge. He also had a couple retired neighbors who would take him fishing with conventional equipment, but it was always fly fishing that he was most intrigued by.
At the age of 10, Mark got his hands on a
fly-tying kit and started fishing. Soon, he was up to 200 days of fishing per year!
Eventually, he got his first clients, and still remembers where he first caught fish professionally!
That was back in 1984. Thousands of days on-stream and many years later, he's still just as excited to meet new clients, see old ones, and make more memories. We hope you'll join him for a great trip!
