About Your Trip

The Fishing:

Quepos, Costa Rica is the crowned jewel of this sportifishing paradise, and is well known for its flat, calm sea conditions (especially during the December-April high season) and its incredible number of billfish. Anglers arrive from all over the world as Quepos is one of the only fisheries in the world home to Blue Marlin, Black Marlin, White Marlin, and Sailfish.

In addition to the billfish scene, anglers flock to Quepos for the
action-packed inshore fishery and a chance to catch the coveted Roosterfish and voracious Cubera Snapper.

Furthermore, given his background in the Bahamas and Florida Keys, Captain Brian and his crew love to explore the world-class bottom fishing for Broomtail Grouper and Tilefish.

The Boats:

Fishing will take place aboard the 42' Buddy Davis, "Double Nickel", and the 42' Ronin, "TooSea". Both vessels feature spacious, air-conditioned cabins and are complete with all the bells and whistles needed to fish Costa Rica right– dredges, outriggers and top-of-the-line heavy and light tackle for catching billfish, mahi, tuna, and wahoo on the troll, deep dropping for Tilefish and Grouper, and inshore action chasing Roosterfish, Cubera Snapper, and Spanish Mackerel.

Both vessels are manned by experienced captain and crew (2 deckhands) who will prepare the trolling spreads, clean and fillet the day's catch, and serve fresh fruit, snacks, and hot lunches daily. Vessels will be supplied daily with water, soft drinks, beer, and ice.

Charters will leave daily from world-renowned Marina Pez Vela which is a short 10 minute drive from the estates.

Accommodations:

This beautiful 5 bedroom Tanager Villa overlooking Quepos is the perfect getaway for families and large groups. Nestled in exclusive Manuel Antonio estates, The Tanager Villa features breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean below and offers guests near daily rainforest wildlife.

Tanager Villa is the estate's largest private vacation rental and can host groups of up to 10 guests in air-conditioned bedrooms. The main house consists of a spacious living & dining area and a large, modern kitchen, all of which connect to the sundeck with a beautiful swimming pool with ocean views.

The 3 main bedrooms are accessible from this floor and are located on the second floor. Two bedrooms overlook the beautiful ocean, and the third bedroom has views of the luscious rain forest that surrounds the property.

Below the main house is a separate 2-bedroom suite which hosts the 4th and 5th bedrooms as well as a small living area, balcony and kitchenette.

Tanager Villa is equipped with cable TV, high speed fiber optic internet, phone service, and all of the kitchen amenities you may need.

Captain Brian spent tons of time down in Costa Rica fishing tournaments and for pleasure adjacent to his 30 year career as a Key Largo fishing guide. This past year the Double Nickle went up for sale while he was down in Quepos, and while he thought he wasn't in the market for a boat, the more he got to thinking, the offer was too good to pass up. Captain Brian has been running trips out of Quepos for the past year (Captain Roy will fish with him/fill in from time to time) implementing the same techniques he used fishing the Gulf and Atlantic sides off the Florida Keys, running the same great trips.
