About Your Trip

This is our highest-tier, year-round offering for serious anglers with something to prove....... and (perhaps a hefty seafood appetite).

First on the agenda is some trolling action. You will troll off-and-on throughout the day: first on the way to your first fishing spot, on your way back to Destin, and also on longer runs in between spots. We also sometimes switch to (or stay with) primarily trolling efforts if you catch your limit of your primary target-fish or if the trolling action just happens to be on fire, but the #1 objective overall is quality bottom fish for your whole group.

On the 12 hour fishing trip, you can expect to be targeting a large variety of species, based on season and availability. On the trolling lines, we will be tempting the most highly desired top-water fish like King Mackerel, Mahi-Mahi, Wahoo, Tuna, Bonita, and more. When we arrive at the bottom-fishing spots, we will be hunting down any and all premium species that are in season- probably one or more of the many types of Grouper or the elite Red Snapper. You will likely also bring in some of the following: Vermillion Snapper (locally known as Mingo Snapper), White Snapper, Black Snapper, and Porgys. And on this trip, there's plenty of time to run across some pretty incredible catches.

Please remember- deckhands humbly work hard for and graciously accept tips. Customary gratuity is 20% of trip price and can be accepted before or after your trip. Thank you for your generosity!

How did you get started guiding?

As a direct descendent of the founders of Destin, FL., fishing has been in our blood for literal hundreds of years.

What makes you different from other guides?

The TradeWinds has several unique factors that set us apart: -We are Federally permitted, which puts us well into the minority of charter boats. This allows us to access and harvest fish from Federal waters beyond 9 miles offshore. -The TradeWinds is a full, 360 degree, walk-around vessel. So you won't be crammed on the back of the boat fishing on top of the rest of your group or having to take turns. You can spread out. (Our cabin is also air-conditioned with 2 full restrooms!) -That stuff is marvelous, but the heart and soul of the TradeWinds is the people that serve you. Our Captain, a USMC Veteran diver, has 50+ years experience captaining, and deckhands all have 20+ years saltwater fishing experience- so no matter what, you've got 70+ years of expertise at your back.

Once you've paid your deposit at checkout, we'll send you a boarding pass. Just show your guide your boarding pass on the day of the trip, they'll scan it, the remaining balance will transfer automatically, and you'll be all set to get out there. Just make sure you bring a cash tip for the guide!

In the case of inclement weather, our guides will make the call and we'll work with you to reschedule your trip or issue a credit for the full deposit of the trip to be used on any of our trips across the country. Your safety is our top concern.

Each trip’s price is set by the guide and factors in all of their costs. A big determinant of cost is often the type of boat and associated fuel costs, but other guide costs include leases, marina / slip fees, bait costs, and the cost to provide and maintain all of the gear you’ll need on your trip.
