Catching Steelhead is what Captain Fred lives for, and he strives to provide the highest quality Idaho steelhead fishing adventures available on the Salmon River. Get out there and catch some of these beautiful, delicious Salmonids!

Born and raised on the Salmon River, Fred is a professional and experienced Steelhead fisherman that will give you the best opportunity to safely hook into that Steelhead or Salmon you have always wanted. With over 70 miles of Idaho’s best steelhead fishing directly accessible from his headquarters in Riggins, Idaho, he can offer the best in Idaho guided Steelhead fishing.

All of Fred’s trips are guided in a drift boat. Fred is not only an expert at navigating the river, but is also extremely knowledgeable about the history surrounding this area. A good lunch, quality rods and Steelhead fishing equipment are all provided, along with a propane heater for your comfort.

Outfitters Jess and Brenda have raised their 3 kids on the river in Riggins, Idaho. Jess started guiding fishing and raft trips 28 years ago. Now they live at and operate their own lodge on 43 acres of private land just outside of Riggins. Living in the heart of the Idaho wilderness is a dream they always hoped for, and has now become a reality. They have always loved sharing their passion for the Salmon and Snake Rivers and the wilderness no matter what experience you're looking for. Living and fishing in Idaho’s backcountry his whole life gives Jess a great appreciation and knowledge of the area, its fish and its history to share with their clients.

Steelhead Guide Fred has over 7 years of experience running drift boat trips for monster Steelhead on the Salmon and Snake river (and others). A true steward of the sport, Fred is always involved in conservation-related activities to support the local seaborn trout population. Being on the water every day is not just a job for Fred, but a necessity, stemming from his passion for the river itself and the beautiful creatures that venture up it!

Must have Idaho Steelhead tag (Must have printed copy in hand). Rain gear, warm clothing recommended. Soda, water, & snacks provided. Alcohol is available for purchase at meeting location. (Storefront).

You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.

This trip is managed by an outfitter. Fred will be your point of contact and you will go out with one of their guides.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

The deposit for this trip is non-refundable (but if the weather is too bad to go out, you will still receive a credit back to your account).

If the weather doesn’t cooperate you’ll be covered by our 100% weather guarantee and you won’t lose your deposit.

We vet our guides to make sure they are the best of the best. We want guides who not only put you on 'em, but show you a great time, keep you safe, and give you a memorable experience with your group.

Once you've paid your deposit at checkout, we'll send you a boarding pass. Just show your guide your boarding pass on the day of the trip, they'll scan it, the remaining balance will transfer automatically, and you'll be all set to get out there. Just make sure you bring a cash tip for the guide!

In the case of inclement weather, our guides will make the call and we'll work with you to reschedule your trip or issue a credit for the full deposit of the trip to be used on any of our trips across the country. Your safety is our top concern.

Each trip’s price is set by the guide and factors in all of their costs. A big determinant of cost is often the type of boat and associated fuel costs, but other guide costs include leases, marina / slip fees, bait costs, and the cost to provide and maintain all of the gear you’ll need on your trip.

Once you book the trip, we will connect you directly with the guide to go over any additional details. In the meantime, our team is always available to answer your questions via email, text, chat, or call!
