Fishing in Boca Grande
trip description for Boca Grande Trophy Tarpon Fishing - 95% Success in Boca Grande

Boca Grande is home to many fish species, but there's no doubt which one rules the water when it comes to action and excitement. Tarpon are Florida's premier inshore gamefish for a reason, and there's no better place to catch one than here with Captain Chris! Captain Chris has dedicated most of his life to helping people catch Tarpon. Targeting the "Silver King" has been a family tradition for a long time, and Tarpon fishing runs in his blood. At the age of five, Chris caught his first Tarpon, weighing around 80 pounds, in the deep waters of Boca Grande Pass with his father Mark. Even before that, his mother Cynthia was fighting Tarpon in Boca Grande Pass while pregnant with him. Captain Chris uses traditional live bait methods for catching Tarpon on his fishing charters. The most common live baits used include Blue Crabs, Pass Crabs, Squirrelfish, and Jumbo Shrimp. Live baits are drifted along the bottom of the pass, as well as other water columns where Tarpon can be found, using a transducer bottom machine. This method requires constant adjustment of the line depth to keep the baits within the “strike zone”. The live baits are presented as naturally as possible by using extra long leaders, heavy lead weights, and constant maneuvering of the boat by the Captain. Using these methods, Captain Chris consistently gets his clients on the fish, and—although there are no guarantees in fishing—has a better than 90% success rate when it comes to his Tarpon trips. Captain Christopher operates out of a custom built 21’ Clearwater 2000CC bay boat, built to the Captain’s standards in 2019. This modern vessel allows for a comfortable drift and great manueverability. There’s a lot of fishing space and also shaded T-top for hot summer days. The boat also has a Bluetooth stereo, so feel free to bring your favorite playlist! Captai Chris will supply everything you need, including rods, reels, bait, and tackle. All you need to bring along is some sunscreen (no spray please!), proper clothing, a cooler with some snacks and drinks, and a smile! Read More

trip description for Tarpon Fishing Fort Myers in Fort Myers

Our Fort Myers tarpon fishing charters are dedicated to only fishing for the silver king! Captain’s favorite time of year. If you can make it here from March to July, it’s as world-class as world-class tarpon fishing gets. This charter should be on every serious angler’s bucket list These tarpon do amazing, acrobatic flips and jumps and show off their beautiful silver scales as they relentlessly try to shake your hooks throughout the fight – which makes catching a tarpon a very difficult and rewarding task. Tarpon near Fort Myers can be over 200 pounds and we’re commonly hooking up with 5+ fish per trip. Tarpon fishing at night in Southwest Florida is best during tarpon season from March – August, but it’s also a great year-round bite where you can hook tarpon almost any day of the year! At night the tarpon can be extremely active and feed really well. Floating big live baits can generate incredible surface strikes right behind the boat. We also like to target tarpon with artificial presentations & dead baiting the bottom. Our tarpon fishing charters start out of Sanibel/Fort Myers Beach area with convenient waterfront pickups also available. We can also fish out of Boca Grande. Captain Jack has poured 15 years of passion into these waters and loves putting his clients on fish! It’s hard to find someone with a better handle on the Fort Myers area tarpon migrations and feeding patterns than Captain Jack. Read More

We had an outstanding fishing trip with Captain Jack, and caught our target species at the first location of the day. In my experience this is rare. The snook were big, hungry, and plentiful. My son and his friend were astounded by the 30 inch snook's ability to fight. We had a great time, and I highly recommend Jack.

Captain Kenny was outstanding. He got us reeling in fish right away. We kept him bust baiting hooks and netting big fish until it was time to call it a day. Great day fishing. Highly recommend, thank you very much. Looking forward to another fishing trip with him next year.

Had a great time. Even though the fish weren't hitting hard, we caught some and the captain was very patient and worked hard to make it a great experience.

Mendel M. with Richard T. of Fort Myers Beach, Florida

  • ★★★★★
Captain Rich was by far the best captain we have ever had during our fishing adventures! His boat was very comfortable. He made the effort to go to the fishing spots that would get us the most action. He was fun, funny and very quick to re-bait our hooks as soon as we lost our bait to the "nibblers" out there. My fiance and I cannot wait to go out with him again! Janet

David D. with Richard T. of Fort Myers Beach, Florida

  • ★★★★★
Although the captain did a decent job trolling over hundreds of tarpon, we failed to hook up one tarpon. Not sure if it was the bait, surf or what?? The captain didn’t have an explanation either.
