trip description for Big Pine Key Action in Cudjoe Key

Down in the Lower Florida Keys there is a lot to see more than just fishing! The wildlife is plentiful and interesting with a wide variety of birds, turtles, stingrays, and dolphins. Every time Captain Robert has a trip or a charter, people seem to be captured by the scenery there in the lower keys backcountry as well as having a successful fishing trip with Captain Robert! Light tackle fishing on the flats gives you better opportunities with sight fishing Permit, Bonefish, Tarpon, and Redfish. Light tackle fishing makes itself the most common and versatile type of fishing with just about anything you can think of catching. Light tackle makes a great day out on the water in producing numbers of fish like Mangrove Snapper and Jack Crevalle which is great for the kids. Another possible great opportunity for kids is Bonefish believe it or not. For light tackle fishing Captain Robert provides all rods and reels for the trip. If you have a fishing rod that you would like to bring you are more than welcome to. Read More

He comes prepared, and will provide you with all the rods, tackle, live bait, or artificial lures you will need for a successful day out on the water. If you decide to chase the sport fish, Captain Mike will use his knowledge of the tides and weather to take you to the best Tarpon, Bonefish, or Permit flats in the area. On these beautiful clear water flats, Captain Mike will use his wireless trolling motor to stealthily sneak you across the flat to sightcast right to the fish! If you choose to bag some gamefish, Capt. Mike will put his 30+ years of experience to work taking you to all the secret channels, mangroves islands, and "honey holes" to help you catch your limits on delicious species including Mangrove Snapper, Redfish, Gag Grouper, and more. trip description for Hot Pursuit in the Gulf Stream in Islamorada

Launching from Whale Harbor with Captain Larry puts you a mere 30 minutes ride offshore to the Gulf Stream's premier hot spots. Captain Larry and crew won’t waste a moment taking you to the action either. On these trips, you will head out up to 30 miles offshore and to target Dolphin, Blackfin Tuna, Amberjack, Wahoo, Shark, Marlin, Sailfish, King Mackerel, and more! If your interest peaked at dolphin/mahi-mahi, you should book your trip from May to October when the population explodes! The charter boat trolls rigged baits and lures to locate schools of dolphin that range from 5 to 50 pounds. Once a school is found, their voracious appetites and abundant numbers result in a feeding frenzy you’ll never forget. And, since Mahi is excellent table fare, you’ll want to keep them for dinner. Your boat’s mate will gladly fillet them and you can arrange to have your catch prepared at any of the local restaurants. From November to April, Captain Larry primarily targets sailfish, using live bait on light tackle. Catching the baitfish (ballyhoo) on the way out to the deep water is a super fun way to start off your adventure (Especially given the prospect that those fish will turn into even bigger fish!) The ballyhoo are chummed up to the surface, where they are caught by cast net or by fishing for them using tiny hair hooks. Once the bait well is full, the boat runs to the outside edge of the reef and the action begins. If you’ve never hooked into a 7-foot-long tail-walking sailfish on light tackle, you’re in for a thrill of a lifetime! We practice catch and release for all bill fishing and ask about no-kill fish mounts. All you need to bring for your trip with Captain Larry are your favorite snacks, drinks, and lunch if you'd like. Captain Larry will provide everything else from a captain & crew that cares, all the licenses, rods, tackle & bait, a clean & spacious vessel, and a filleting and bagging service for your catch! Duck Key Fishing Overview

There are more than a few options for charter fishing in Duck Key. Located about halfway down on the Florida Keys island chain, Duck Key is in an excellent location for all types of fishing. The average temperature in winter is around 65 degrees, so the bite is on year-round. You can have your choice of battling a Tarpon in the bays, stalking Bonefish in the flats, trolling bluewater for Mahi-Mahi, or deep-dropping for Swordfish, Duck Key fishing charters have something for every group.

Duck Key Inshore Fishing

The city of Duck Key is situated on 13 islands that are separated by inlets and channels. Within and around these islands are miles of flats, smaller islands, sandbars, and canals for you to explore with our Duck Key fishing guides.

Needless to say, there are plenty of places to fish in Duck Key. This vacation destination is so attractive because of its year-long warm weather, which means something is always in season. Starting in the early spring, the "Grey Ghost", or Bonefish, make their way into the flats and bays around Duck Key and stay all summer long. Shortly after when the water warms up just a tad more, Tarpon, or "The Silver King", invade the bays and channels around the islands.

Once the Snook bite picks up just weeks after the Tarpon typically arrive, you'll have all you need for the Inshore Slam - or add a Speckled Trout for the Inshore Grand Slam. Once the Snook and Tarpon leave town, Permit and Pompano arrive, so the bite is on all year long!

Duck Key Deep Sea Fishing Charters

In addition to being an inshore powerhouse, Duck Key's location on the Keys island chain puts it in a prime spot for some serious offshore and deep sea fishing tours. Just like the inshore fishing, something is biting in the deeper waters around the islands year-round.

For the angler who prefers reef and wreck fishing, there are plenty of artificial reefs, sunken ships, and other shallow-water structures that support a biodiverse tropical fish community. These trips are perfect for half-day family trips, as you are pretty much guaranteed to catch something. Year-round the reefs are teeming with life, from Kingfish and Spanish Mackerel to Grouper and Snapper variants.

Further offshore, the bite never stops as well. In the winter months, deep sea trips for Sailfish are productive. Come springtime, the Marlin and Swordfish begin to show up in the bluewater depths. Throughout the summer and fall, Mahi-Mahi, Wahoo, Yellowfin, and Blackfin tuna can all be caught on deep sea charters.

Recent Reviews of Captain Experiences

  • ★★★★★
Great day out with Captain Billy B that I strongly recommend. When I said I wanted to catch trout, I was not expecting to catch over 50 on a 6 hour trip. Not only does Captain Billy know his fishing spots in the Everglades but he will also take the time to teach you how to improve your techniques. How to catch a fish at almost every cast. am sure he is great with kids. If you are looking for a monthly rental, or even buying a house in the area, he is also your man.
