trip description for Fly Fishing the Flats in Galveston

Embark on a fly fishing adventure with Captain Justin through Galveston’s huge expanse of sand, grass, and mudflats that provide plenty of opportunities to sight fish for tailing Reds! Captain Justin specifically targets Redfish but that doesn't mean you won't throw a fly at a cruising Black Drum or Sheepshead you see along the way. Captain Justin offers half-day and full-day trips depending on how much time you want to spend out on the water. His skiff is a fantastic vessel for exploring the shallow waters, and can comfortably host you and one other person. You must have a Texas Parks and Wildlife Fishing License with a Saltwater Stamp. Captain Justin encourages you to bring your own gear if you have it, but will also provide an 8, 9, and 10 weight rod for you as well. Captain Justin also brings a light tackle spinning rod along as well—just in case. He will also provide all the flies, terminal tackle, ice, and water to ensure a successful trip. trip description for Clear Lake Flounder Special in Clear Lake Shores

Catching a Flounder is always a treat because they are one of the tastiest you can pull out of the ocean anywhere in the world. This fish is always a target of any angler, but especially in the winter months with the larger fish moving inshore. Flounder like to travel in loose schools so if you catch one you might just be able to hook 5 or 10 more in the same pass. This bottom-hugging flatfish likes to burrow itself in the sand of moving waters around inlets and passes waiting for the tide to bring food past them. So head out with Captain Kerry and crew for an epic day as they truly do know these waters like the back of their hand. All his boats can accommodate 4 anglers and are equipped with live bait wells and trolling motors. Captain Kerry and crew usually like to meet up at Schaefer's Coastal Bar, but are they more than happy to pick you up from any restaurant or Hotel on Clearlake/Kemah area. These trips are for anglers of all skill levels and ages. No matter if you’re a beginner or a seasoned professional, Captain Kerry will lead the way and take care of everything! They will provide all the bait, tackle, rods, and gear. You only need to bring food and drinks and Texas saltwater fishing license. Read More

trip description for Galveston Bay fishing 4 Hour or 6 Hour in Galveston

We will meet at a predetermined location that is best for you and provides quick access to fishing. I provide the rods, reels, tackle and bait for the day. I just need you to bring your drinks and snacks in a small cooler and to make sure everyone has a valid fishing license. Do we fish if it’s raining or windy? Safety is a priority. If there are severe storms in the area or if the wind is out of control, I’ll suggest we delay or try to reschedule the trip. There’s no sense in going out and being uncomfortable, and I will never put us in danger. But if it’s just a little rain, let’s go – the fish are already wet! We will fish from my 24’ Sea Pro with Suzuki 200 hp engine to get there fast, using live bait most days; we will fish reefs, jetties or other structure around Galveston Bay. Once we are done we will return to the dock where I will clean and filet your fish and package them in gallon ziplock bags. Read More

I had a great trip with Captain Colin sight fishing for redfish in the Galveston Bay. While the fishing was slow and water conditions were not ideal (we only saw 3 fish), Captain Colin made the experience enjoyable. This was my first experience sight fishing for redfish, and Captain Colin was a good instructor teaching me the techniques and the biology of the fishery. Overall, a great experience.

Capt Collin is an excellent guide, knows the water, likely hot spots and, although not a novice with a fly rod, is probably very patient and willing to teach. Equipment well maintained and organized. I highly recommend Collin.

Colin worked hard in poor conditions with a red tide running most of the fish out. Finally hooked up late in the day.

We had the best time with Captain David! He was so nice and fun to fish with. I had never saltwater fished and he was very patient with me. She showed me how to bait the hook and did it for me until I was comfortable doing it myself. No judgement. He was an all around good guy! Took us to several spots and put us in fish every spot. We caught black drum, croakers and red drum. He took me to his Hail Mary spot ( shhh it’s a secret). And I caught a 15 pound Red Drum. He helped me step by step land it into the boat. It was so much fun and he was as excited as I was. We saw a mama and her baby dolphin and he took me as close as he could to them so I could get some pictures because he knew I was excited to see them. On the way back to the pier he told us some history and info about the things we were seeing. I will definitely book with Captain David next time we go down there.

Darrell was friendly, patient and knowledgeable regarding the Galveston waters. This was the first saltwater fishing experience for my 11-year-old son. Darrell was great working with him and made both of us feel welcomed and comfortable.

I wanted to take a moment to share my recent fishing experience with anyone who will listen. During my trip, I had the pleasure of being guided by Corey, who I must say was by far the best guide I have ever encountered. Corey's knowledge and expertise not only extended to the fish and the area, but also to boats in general. Within minutes of conversing with him, I felt like I had known him for years. His ability to make me feel comfortable and at ease was truly remarkable. To top it all off, Corey helped me catch the biggest fish I've ever caught! His professionalism, respectfulness, and sense of humor made the trip both enjoyable and memorable. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate him a solid 10 without hesitation. I highly recommend Corey's services to everyone, from seasoned fishermen to novices. Even my wife, who isn't a big fan of fishing, was thoroughly impressed with Cory and his exceptional service. I had initial doubts about today's trip, but thanks to Corey, it turned out to be an incredible experience.

Captain David was great. The weather and the tide was working hard against us and he worked harder to put us on fish. Great trip with a quality guide, I will be back.

    Super friendly and accommodating captain

Captain Collin was awesome. Pre-trip communication was timely and informative setting the stage for a successful day. From the moment we met, I could tell that this wasn’t going to be 8 hours with a stranger, but more like a friend I hadn’t met yet. As for the fish, he put us in the right spot multiple times and never stopped searching leading to a late trip score. I would highly recommend Captain Collin as a guide and will absolutely be back out with him again.

Dennis D. with Collin S. of Galveston, Texas

Top stars for Captain Justin !! No only did we team up to land 12 out 15 redfish on the fly rod, but we had a great time fishing together. He knowledgeable of the Galveston backwater and highly skilled in positioning the boat for the cast and landing. A great person to fish with !!
