Join Captain Matt for an afternoon adventure chasing massive Sheephead! These Freshwater Drum make for great sportfish because they put up a great fight, can grow well above 20lbs, and can be mighty fine table fare as well. Don't be surprised if you hook into some Walleye on these trips either! Captain Matt likes to use a couple different techniques out on Lake Macatawa. Some days the Sheephead like the slow troll, other days they're enticed by the action of a deep diving crank bait, and other times they are bottom feasting on gobies where jigs can be most effective. Luckily, Captain Matt will be there to provide insight into what technique is fishing best!

Captain Matt's 30’ Baha Cruiser is the perfect vessel for fishing freshwater lakes. She can comfortably fit up to 6 guests plus the captain, so you can bring your friends and family on this trip. The 395hp Mercruiser engine will power you smoothly through the calm waters of the lake as you search for your prey. There is also a bathroom on board for your comfort.

Everything you need for a successful fishing trip will be provided by Captain Matt and his crew. They bring the rods, reels, bait, and tackle, so all you need to bring is a valid Michigan fishing license and a good attitude! Well, all that and appropriate clothing. Check the weather forecast before you head out so you know what to wear. At the end of the day, Captain Matt will clean and fillet your catch, then you can head home with a delicious meal!

Once you've paid your deposit at checkout, we'll send you a boarding pass. Just show your guide your boarding pass on the day of the trip, they'll scan it, the remaining balance will transfer automatically, and you'll be all set to get out there. Just make sure you bring a cash tip for the guide!

In the case of inclement weather, our guides will make the call and we'll work with you to reschedule your trip or issue a credit for the full deposit of the trip to be used on any of our trips across the country. Your safety is our top concern.

Each trip’s price is set by the guide and factors in all of their costs. A big determinant of cost is often the type of boat and associated fuel costs, but other guide costs include leases, marina / slip fees, bait costs, and the cost to provide and maintain all of the gear you’ll need on your trip.
