Cast away with Captain Joe on your 5-hour (half-day) or 7-hour (full day) adventure through the waters of Matagorda, Texas!

Captain Joe will help you and your fellow angling buddies catch the limits of Black Drum, Flounder, Redfish, Sheepshead, and Speckled Trout. His 2021 24’ Haynie Cat boat can accommodate up to 4 anglers. Whether it’s your first time out on the water or a seasoned professional, this is the trip for you.

Captain Joe will provide everything you need to have a productive day on the water, except a saltwater fishing license, which you’ll need to bring with you. He will provide all rods, reels, tackle and an icebox for your day’s catch. Live bait will be an extra charge of $20 per person.

Captain Joe offers Matagorda fishing charters for Speckled Trout, Redfish, and Flounder across East Matagorda Bay and West Matagorda Bay. With over 20 years of experience fishing Matagorda Bay, he's excited to show your group where to fish and how to catch!

Your fishing trip starts aboard Captain Joe's 2018 23’ Shoalwater Cat boat. This bay boat can accommodates up to 4 guests and is powered by a 250 HP Suzuki engine. Fully equipped with navigational and safety gear, a live well for bait, and an ice box for drinks and food, this Shoalwater has everything you need.

Live bait is not included, but Captain Joe is happy to purchase ahead of time with advanced notice.

Casting light tackle with a popping cork and drift fishing or bottom fishing, you’ll target Texas inshore species including Redfish, Speckled Trout, Flounder, Black Drum, and Sheepshead. After your trip, Captain Joe will clean and fillet your fish so you're all set for dinner.

Captain Joe has children's life jackets aboard and loves showing kids the ropes.

Be sure to purchase your Texas saltwater fishing licenses, bring some snacks, and get ready for some fun on the water.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 3 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account.

If the weather doesn’t cooperate you’ll be covered by our 100% weather guarantee and you won’t lose your deposit.

We vet our guides to make sure they are the best of the best. We want guides who not only put you on 'em, but show you a great time, keep you safe, and give you a memorable experience with your group.

Once you've paid your deposit at checkout, we'll send you a boarding pass. Just show your guide your boarding pass on the day of the trip, they'll scan it, the remaining balance will transfer automatically, and you'll be all set to get out there. Just make sure you bring a cash tip for the guide!

In the case of inclement weather, our guides will make the call and we'll work with you to reschedule your trip or issue a credit for the full deposit of the trip to be used on any of our trips across the country. Your safety is our top concern.

Each trip’s price is set by the guide and factors in all of their costs. A big determinant of cost is often the type of boat and associated fuel costs, but other guide costs include leases, marina / slip fees, bait costs, and the cost to provide and maintain all of the gear you’ll need on your trip.
