The tarpon, Atlantic tarpon or also called the silver king are one of the number one targeted sport fish on the earth. These fish are some of the best fighting fish anglers have come across with using light tackle. Central Florida offers a wide selection of two different tarpon fishing charters in the area and this is the closest tarpon fishing near Orlando you will find. We target big tarpon here throughout the warmer months in the spring through the fall along the beaches, just outside the inlets. The backcountry tarpon fishing is done on the Mosquito Lagoon Indian River year round on the flats in New Smyrna Beach, Daytona Beach, Ponce Inlet, Port Canaveral and Cocoa Beach. Typically April through November, with May, June, July, August, September and October being prime time for big beach, nearshore and backcountry tarpon. However the smaller tarpon can be found throughout the area year round in the far backcountry waters of the Indian River, Banana River, Sebastian Inlet and the Mosquito Lagoon. These fish range around 5 to 20 pounds, which are perfect for light tackle applications of both spin and fly. We will be fishing the world famous Mosquito Lagoon which is contained within the Merritt Island Wildlife Reserve. Whether we launch at Riverbreeze Park in Oak Hill or Beacon 42 Launch we will be fishing different sections of the 30 mile long 7 mile wide lagoon. Most of the fishing will be polling islands or shorelines casting at tailing or pushing fish. The species that we will be targeting will be Redfish & Sea Trout. Snook and Black Drum are also options depending upon where we fish. One of the options on the 4 hr. or 5 hr trip would be going to the famous JB's Fish Camp for lunch.
