Costa Rica is home to some of the world’s premier billfishing, and the epicenter of this epic fishery is the seaside town of Quepos. Adjacent to Manuel Antonio National Park, Quepos is the destination for anglers from around the world who want to pursue every species of Marlin, as well as Sailfish, Dorado (Mahi Mahi) and Yellowfin Tuna. If you’re into big game fish, there's no better place. With the fertile currents of the Pacific Ocean passing right along the coast of Costa Rica, we have what many would say are the best Sailfishing grounds any where in the world. Captain Tyler is an expert in putting you right on top of these magnificent fish, giving you the best possible chance to hook up with a personal best!

Captain Tyler utilizes a range of techniques to bring in the big ones. Expect to troll extensively while hunting for aggressive predators such as Marlin and Sailfish, and once your fish is hooked, get ready to to play him with big rods and heavy tackle.

Because this is an offshore trip, aiming for some of the fastest and widest-ranging pelagic fish, expect to steam for a couple of hours before you start to hook up. On the day of the trip, you'll be heading out in Captain Tyler's 31' Bertram. In 2015, the boat went through extensive upgrades, including new engines and the latest electronics: digital “Hi-Def” Fish Finder, GPS, VHF, and more. Complete with a knowledgable crew, you’ll have an excellent time aboard one of Quepos' most successful charters.

Captain Tyler will provide all the necessary gear, including rods, tackle, and bait. To maximize your experience on the water, bring along a pair of Polarized Sunglasses, Weather-appropriate Clothing, Sunscreen, and your Fishing License. Have a blast!

Captain Tyler is the owner of the entire charter fleet, and Captain aboard the 46' Guthrie. From Houston, TX originally Captain Tyler has been fishing down in Costa Rica for the past 6 years. Captain Tyler has 3 other boats in his fleet. 2 others that run out of Pez Vela Marina and 1 down in Heradura. All of his Captains are first class guides, Licensed and Insured.

You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.

This trip is managed by an outfitter. Tyler will be your point of contact and you will go out with one of their guides.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

The deposit for this trip is non-refundable (but if the weather is too bad to go out, you will still receive a credit back to your account).

If the weather doesn’t cooperate you’ll be covered by our 100% weather guarantee and you won’t lose your deposit.

We vet our guides to make sure they are the best of the best. We want guides who not only put you on 'em, but show you a great time, keep you safe, and give you a memorable experience with your group.

Once you've paid your deposit at checkout, we'll send you a boarding pass. Just show your guide your boarding pass on the day of the trip, they'll scan it, the remaining balance will transfer automatically, and you'll be all set to get out there. Just make sure you bring a cash tip for the guide!

In the case of inclement weather, our guides will make the call and we'll work with you to reschedule your trip or issue a credit for the full deposit of the trip to be used on any of our trips across the country. Your safety is our top concern.

Each trip’s price is set by the guide and factors in all of their costs. A big determinant of cost is often the type of boat and associated fuel costs, but other guide costs include leases, marina / slip fees, bait costs, and the cost to provide and maintain all of the gear you’ll need on your trip.
