A quick boat ride offshore will take you to the perfect waters to catch huge Pacific species, including Blue Marlin, shortbill spearfish, striped marlin, Ono (Wahoo), Yellowfin Tuna, and more. Captain Gaige's 42’ Merritt is well-equipped with top-of-the-line Shimano reels and quality rods and tackle, all IGFA qualified in case you happen to catch a potential record breaker. Plus, the sturdy fighting chair will provide comfort during the intense battles with these magnificent creatures.

Captain Gaige's trips focus on targeting trophy-sized fish, such as giant Yellowfin Tuna and Blue Marlin, rather than medium-sized fish like Mahi Mahi found in the nearshore waters. The waters off Hawaii get very deep quickly, meaning you can catch trophy gamefish without having to venture too far out.

Thisepic sportfishing trip includes everything you need, from fishing licenses to tackle and bait, fish cleaning and packaging, coolers full of ice, and even complimentary photos and video of the trip! All reels are Shimano made, and the rods and tackles are of the highest quality and IGFA qualified. Captain Gaige started his love for offshore fishing in the Gulf of Mexico at the age of 12, with his father. There he learned that this was a sport he wanted to make a career of. He has fished many tournaments out of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and now Kona, Hawaii. Capt. Gaige ran a 54' Hatteras out of Texas, where he placed in different categories of many tournaments, including 2nd place Billfish Release in the prestigious POCO Bueno tournament in 2018.

Capt. Gaige moved to Kona, Hawaii in 2022 to run a 35' Bertram. In 2023 he upgraded to a classic 42' Merritt. Since moving to Kona, Gaige has been running a successful charter business, putting many people on their first Marlin. In 2023, Capt. Gaige placed 3rd overall in the Lure Maker's challenge and won the Big Island Marlin Tournament. Big Game Sport fishing is Gaige's passion and Kona, Hawaii is a place that allows him to pursue this passion year-round.

Capt. Gaige has the U.S.C.G. OUPV/Six-pack License and also his 100 Ton Master's License.

We vet our guides to make sure they are the best of the best. We want guides who not only put you on 'em, but show you a great time, keep you safe, and give you a memorable experience with your group.

Once you've paid your deposit at checkout, we'll send you a boarding pass. Just show your guide your boarding pass on the day of the trip, they'll scan it, the remaining balance will transfer automatically, and you'll be all set to get out there. Just make sure you bring a cash tip for the guide!

In the case of inclement weather, our guides will make the call and we'll work with you to reschedule your trip or issue a credit for the full deposit of the trip to be used on any of our trips across the country. Your safety is our top concern.

Each trip’s price is set by the guide and factors in all of their costs. A big determinant of cost is often the type of boat and associated fuel costs, but other guide costs include leases, marina / slip fees, bait costs, and the cost to provide and maintain all of the gear you’ll need on your trip.

Once you book the trip, we will connect you directly with the guide to go over any additional details. In the meantime, our team is always available to answer your questions via email, text, chat, or call!
