About Your Trip

The water gets very deep just a short boat ride off the island. This means that trophy gamefish species like yellowfin tuna, blue marlin, sailfish, and mahi-mahi can be caught without having to take a long ride out to the prime fishing waters.

This trip includes fishing licenses, tackle & bait, fish cleaning and packaging, coolers full of ice, and even complimentary photos and video of the trip! All the gear on board is IGFA qualified, so if you catch a trophy, you may be in the running for a record. All reels are made by Shimano, and the rods and tackles are of the highest quality.

Captain Gaige started his love for offshore fishing in the Gulf of Mexico at the age of 12, with his father. There he learned that this was a sport he wanted to make a career of. He has fished many tournaments out of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and now Kona, Hawaii. Capt. Gaige ran a 54' Hatteras out of Texas, where he placed in different categories of many tournaments, including 2nd place Billfish Release in the prestigious POCO Bueno tournament in 2018.

Capt. Gaige moved to Kona, Hawaii in 2022 to run a 35' Bertram. In 2023 he upgraded to a classic 42' Merritt. Since moving to Kona, Gaige has been running a successful charter business, putting many people on their first Marlin. In 2023, Capt. Gaige placed 3rd overall in the Lure Maker's challenge and won the Big Island Marlin Tournament. Big Game Sport fishing is Gaige's passion and Kona, Hawaii is a place that allows him to pursue this passion year-round.

Capt. Gaige has the U.S.C.G. OUPV/Six-pack License and also his 100 Ton Master's License.

We vet our guides to make sure they are the best of the best. We want guides who not only put you on 'em, but show you a great time, keep you safe, and give you a memorable experience with your group.

Once you've paid your deposit at checkout, we'll send you a boarding pass. Just show your guide your boarding pass on the day of the trip, they'll scan it, the remaining balance will transfer automatically, and you'll be all set to get out there. Just make sure you bring a cash tip for the guide!

In the case of inclement weather, our guides will make the call and we'll work with you to reschedule your trip or issue a credit for the full deposit of the trip to be used on any of our trips across the country. Your safety is our top concern.

Each trip’s price is set by the guide and factors in all of their costs. A big determinant of cost is often the type of boat and associated fuel costs, but other guide costs include leases, marina / slip fees, bait costs, and the cost to provide and maintain all of the gear you’ll need on your trip.
