trip description for Lake Choke Canyon Duck Shoot in Coldspring

Head out for some fast and furious early-morning action chasing ducks down in Lake Choke Canyon! Your guide and outfitter, Kirk, will provide all the scouting, decoys, transportation, blind setups, and calling for your morning hunt. Whether you're an experienced duck hunter or just getting into the sport, this South Texas duck hunt will be a real blast for anyone. Your guide and outfitter, Kirk, has years of experience hunting the South Texas coast, and will put you right on the birds. Texas is smack in the middle of the Central Flyway, and is a stopover for dozens of migratory waterfowl specied. The lakes here draw hundreds of thousands of ducks annually, including Green-Winged and Blue-Winged Teals, Wigeons, Redheads, Pintails, Gadwalls, and Mottled Ducks. You can target all of these species, which are exciting quarries and great eating to boot! Kirk runs these trips on his 18' Weldbilt skiff, with a shallow draft to take you through even the skinniest waters. She can accommodate up to 4 hunters, so bring some good company! You'll typically be hunting from the boat itself, nestled back up amongst the marsh banks, since public property can be scarce around Lake Livingston. Kirk asks that you bring your own shotguns, shells, camoflauge, and waders. You will also need your Texas hunting license and a federal duckstamp as well. Read More

Join your outfitter, Kirk, for an epic nighttime hog hunt using AR-10s equipped with thermal scopes! On this hunt you’ll be able to shoot as many hogs as you can find as you stalk these beasts through the night. Kirk will provide you with the A-10 rifles, thermal scopes, and .308 ammunition- perfect for sighting and putting down big hogs! Kirk does not provide lodging, but there are plenty of affordable lodging options in the area. This is a night hunt, so you’ll arrive around 7PM, or just after dusk, and spend around 5 hours stalking the hogs. Although there are no guarantees, Kirk's hunts frequently take out 10-30 hogs in a given night! Kirk also provides hog cleaning for an additional feel which varies based on how many hogs and the size of the hogs. Feral hogs are a major problem in Texas, causing tens of millions of dollars in agricultural damage annually, and you can help out by whackin' 'em with high-caliber ammunition. Head out for some fast and furious early-morning action chasing Wood Ducks on Lake Livingston! Your guide and outfitter, Kirk, will provide all the scouting, decoys, transportation, blind setups, and calling for your morning hunt. Unlike diving ducks and puddle ducks, Wood Ducks move on a much more consistent schedule and they don't dally. Between first light and sunrise, big flocks move from the roost site to their food source, all at once. If you're hitting your marks, you can have a very efficient morning hunt! Lake Livingston attracts many species of puddle and diving ducks. Wood Ducks and Mallards, are the most sought-after here. Kirk has been hunting this lake for years and has the perfect honey holes and set ups, coupled with proper scouting, to get you plenty of shots on the Woodys.
