Lake Buchanan is one of the hottest striper fishing locations in Central Texas as a result of efforts by volunteers and stocking programs by the government. The striper fishing is excellent on this lake. The stripers start their yearly schooling & feeding activity in February. On this 4 or 8-hour trip, Jackie will motor you out on Lake Buchanan to go after some picture-worthy Crappie, Striped Bass and White Bass. You can target these fish using light tackle, by bottom fishing or creeping up on them with the trolling motor. This trip is great for beginners, and experienced anglers can have a great time too as they pile up the fish. No matter your skill level, Jackie will give you plenty of expert tips to help get some fish on the line! You'll be fishing aboard a 23' Redfin Center Console with room for 4 people. If you've ever wanted to nail big Carp on tiny dry flies, this trip is for you! Although when many fly anglers think "fly fishing", they're picturing Trout somewhere in the Rocky Mountains, Riley specializes in finding and hooking lowland species such as Carp and Bass. Catching a carp on the fly is hard at first, which is why your guide loves them, and he would love it even more if he could help you get on one yourself! When you go out with one of the guides to chase these feisty specimens you can expect to spend your day wading around lakes and river systems stalking your quarry stealthy and precisely. These fish are very aware of their surroundings, and you get no second chances. It’s either a perfect cast and presentation or the fish spooks, and often, the latter. When they do eat, however, you’re can bet your bottom dollar they're going to take you out to the backing! Certain times of the year, you can also target smallmouth buffalo on the fly, which grow even larger than carp, and are actually indigenous to Texas waters. Teaching trips are also welcomed for folks that have never held a fly rod. If this trip is more in line with your skill level, you can expect it to be more centered around the fundamentals, rather than finding and catching a fish, but it won't be too long before your out to the backing on a giant carp as well! This listing is for trips departing in the AFTERNOON only. (If you wish to fish in the morning, go back and select the AM trip option) Trips on Lake Travis will depart out of Cody Park in Lago Vista. For an additional $50 charge to cover my extra time and fuel I also offer pick ups from private docks between Mile Markers 10-37, I also offer pick ups from the fuel dock at Rough Hollow Marina. If you would like to be picked up other than my normal meeting location at Cody Park please message me after booking. I can fit up to three anglers per trip. If you have a larger group please message me as I have two other licensed guides I work with and would be happy to help you arrange additional boats. Trips target Largemouth Bass. Guadalupe Bass, White Bass, Freshwater Drum, Catfish and Crappie are also common bycatch. We will be fishing with artificial lures. I offer both spinning and baitcasting combos, I can accomodate any skill level angler. All rods, reels, tackle, etc is provided. The only thing you must provide is a valid fishing license for any angler over the age of 16. (Upon booking you will receive a confirmation email including instructions on how to obtain a fishing license. It's extremely easy, you can pick one up from any sporting goods store or online via your phone in about 10 minutes.) Bottled water on ice is also provided. Children ages 5 and up are more than welcome! Please let me know if a child will be in your party and I will make sure to have an appropriate sized life jacket for them. Learn to catch giant Largemouth with one of the best in the business as you head out with Grant on a half-day or full-day outing on Lake Austin or Lady Bird Lake (Lake Austin is the Land of the Giants by the way). Grant specializes in throwing big swimbaits, 4-7inch long and usually articulated for more realistic action as you move the bait past a hungry Behemoth. This technique is pretty unique and requires a bit of knowledge to fish effectively, Grant has not only mastered this technique but he is also prepared to share his knowledge with you so you can catch Lunkers like his on your own. Mid-day heat is when Grant usually has the best success with big fish, so depending on when you'd like to get out on the water, Grant is usually willing to accommodate you.
