Whether it’s your first time on the water or you are a seasoned professional, this trip is for you. Captain Collin has 20+ years of experience fishing the waters of Port O’Connor and will lead you to where the fish bite. Expect to target Redfish, Black Drum, Flounder, Jack Crevalle, and Red Snapper (depending on the season). For these 6-hour (half-day) and 9-hour (full day) trips, Captain Collin uses his 23’ Shoalwater center console boat which can accommodate 6 anglers. He will provide everything you need to have a productive day on the water, including all rods, reels, and tackle. He will also have bottled water on board as well as an ice chest for your day’s catch. All you need to bring is a valid Texas fishing license and any food and drinks of your choice (no glass). If you're looking for a real deal saltwater flyfishing adventure, look no further than Captain Dylan. Dylan lives and breaths flyfishing and moves all around texas to follow the best fishing in season. For his saltwater trips, Captain Dylan usually runs out of Rockport, Texas. However, dependent on various situations and/or time of year—we may fish as far south as Aransas Pass and as far north as Port O’ Connor. Primarily, we will be sight casting for redfish in shallow water with the occasional shot at Black Drum, Speckled Trout, Flounder & Sheepshead. In the spring and summer, when the tides are up, we will have opportunities at Bull Reds and Jack Crevalle in the bay. In terms of gear, Captain Dylan encourages you to bring your own gear, but can also supply you with everything you if need be. If you would prefer to bring your own rod, a 7-8 wt rod with floating line is ideal. On occasion, a larger setup (10-12 wt) may be needed for over Slot Bull Reds, Big Jacks, and even Tarpon. You can go over all these details with Dylan in the days leading up to your trip, you can let Captain Dylan know what you have and what you don't have and he can fill in the gaps. Dylan will supply his own hand-tied flies specifically crafted based on the depth and clarity of the water for the given day. Simple shrimp and crab patterns in various different colors and sizes are go-to's for the texas coast. Variations of the Clouser Minnow, Tarpon Toad, Borski Sliders, Seaducers, Kwan, Crimp, & Gurglers in different sizes (2,4,6) and colors (tan, white, purple, chartreuse, pink) are all great patterns you'll have on board as well. This will be a full day of wade fishing the Rockport Tx bay systems. We will use a variety of different Artifical lures from soft plastics to top waters primarily targeting trophy trout and redfish. I will provide all the tackle as far as lures go. But you are more than welcome and encouraged to bring your favorite and most confident baits. You will be required to bring all your own gear consisting of waders and boots, wading belts with pliers and stringers and last but not least your own rods. I do recommend each customer bring 2 rods incase one accidentally breaks or has a malfunction. I can provide beginners rods and reels for an additional cost of $50 per rod. One more thing that I hope won’t be a deal breaker but since the major freeze a few years ago I along with a lot of the Texas guides do “Not” allow clients to keep any trout. Our trout fishery especially here in the rockport area took a major hit during the freeze. With that being said, It is coming back and there is plenty of trout action to have but if we want it to have a chance to get back to the way it was and hopefully even better and long lasting we have to continue to let them go and grow.
